Yilin Verse
不風不雨,白日皎皎。宜出驅馳,通理大道。
No wind, no rain; the white sun shines bright. Fit to ride forth and gallop; the great road runs clear.
— Jiao Yanshou, Yilin (Forest of Changes), 1st century BCE
Commentary
Neither wind nor rain — the white sun shines brilliantly. Go forth, drive your chariot, and take the great road unimpeded. From Creative to Peace, heaven and earth exchange places: heaven descends, earth ascends, and their energies mingle freely. Tai is the hexagram of open passage, of spring when all gates stand wide. The verse distills this into pure clarity: no storm, no obstruction, just radiant daylight and an open highway. When heaven's creative force flows downward to meet earth's receptive support rising upward, the result is a world without blockage. The chariot races forward because the road and the sky conspire to let it through.
