Yilin Verse
朽根枯株,不生肌膚,病在心腹,日以焦勞。
Rotten roots and withered trunk; no flesh or skin will grow. The sickness lodges in heart and belly; day by day, scorching toil.

Commentary
Thunder above wind, Duration's life-sustaining rhythm, erupts into thunder above heaven — Great Power's overwhelming force. A rotted root on a dead stump cannot generate new flesh. The illness lodges in the heart and belly, growing daily into a consuming anxiety. Duration here has run past its expiry: what should endure is already dead at the root, and no amount of persistence can revive it. The disease at the center — heart and belly — represents a corruption of the vital organs of a state or body that no external remedy can reach. From Duration to Great Power, the thunder doubles its force above heaven, but power applied to a rotten foundation only accelerates collapse. Great strength without living substance is merely great destruction.
