What is Consultation?

The practice of consulting the I-Ching for guidance. 卜 (bǔ) originally referred to oracle bone consultation using tortoise shells; 筮 (shì) refers to yarrow-stalk consultation associated with the I-Ching. Modern practice commonly uses the three-coin method. The tradition treats this as structured reflection — a method of careful inquiry, not prediction.
