The mountain is steep and hard to climb; stones crowd the ford. The cart races, hubs collide; the heavy load cracks the axle. The bearer stumbles easily; he twists and injures his right foot.

注释
天在山中，大畜蓄力之象。山險難登——山勢險峻。渭中多石——渭水滿布亂石。車馳轊擊——車行急而軸端碰撞。重載傷軸——負重過甚而傷車軸。載擔善躓——擔夫易跌。跌踒右足——摔傷右腳。此詩連寫六重險阻傷損，無一順遂。從大畜至明夷（明入地中），蓄積之光沉入黑暗。明夷者，用晦而明——在暗世中以隱晦自保。此詩寫盡行路之艱，車毀軸折、人傷腳痛，正合明夷之象：光明被壓入地下，一切前行皆遇挫。蓄積雖厚，逢明夷之世則不宜強行。
