Widowed young in her prime; alone she dwells in solitude. Roosters crow, dogs bark; none dares approach her. I was born at an ill hour; alone I embrace cold and hardship.

注释
澤滅木，大過之象。當年少寡，獨與孤處——年輕守寡，唯孤獨相伴。雞鳴犬吠，無敢誰者——村中雞犬之聲不絕，卻無人敢前來往來。我生不辰，獨嬰寒苦——「我命不逢時，獨自受盡寒苦。」此詩以苦澀之筆反寫泰卦天地交泰之意：天地萬物交感相通，唯此少寡之婦與一切隔絕。雞鳴犬吠為有人煙之鄉，卻與她無涉。從大過至泰，過重之壓化為天地交泰——然個人之苦不因大局之安而得解。泰之福澤普照而獨遺一人，此正大過之餘殃。
