兼山為艮,踧行竊視——蹑步偷望,有所畏避。如狸首伏藏,以夜為利。人或獸被壓迫至只能潛行,一切動作皆警惕,暴露即是危險。從艮至大畜(天在山中),山化為山中蓄天之象。大畜以耐心積蓄力量,多識前言往行以畜德。然詩中之潛行者是此義之暗面——靜中所蓄非德而是恐懼。無修養之藏匿,不過是無尊嚴之苟活。
