Yilin Verse
太微帝室,黃帝所宜。藩屏周衛,不可得入,常安無患。
Taiwei, the imperial chamber, where the Yellow Emperor rightfully dwells. Screens and guards surround and protect; none can intrude. Always safe, without peril.
— Jiao Yanshou, Yilin (Forest of Changes), 1st century BCE
Commentary
The Taiwei celestial enclosure, the Emperor's chamber among the stars, the proper seat of the Yellow Emperor. Screens and guards surround it on every side; none may enter unbidden. Eternal security, no threat. In Han-dynasty astronomy, the Taiwei enclosure contained the Five Emperor Thrones, with the Yellow Emperor at the center — the celestial model of imperial governance. From Creative to Abundance, thunder and lightning arrive together, illuminating all. Feng's image is the zenith of power: the king who reaches Abundance need not worry, for he is like the sun at midday. The celestial palace, ringed by its wall of stars, embodies this perfectly — supreme authority so well-guarded that danger simply cannot approach.
