南山之峻,真人所在;德配唐虞;天命為子;保佑飲享,身受大慶。
On the steep southern mountain, the True Man dwells. His virtue matches Yao and Shun; heaven ordains him as the heir. Protected and blessed with offerings; he personally receives great celebration.

Commentary
Heaven and earth stand apart, yet on the steep southern mountain a True Man dwells, his virtue matching that of Yao and Shun. Heaven designates him as Son, and under divine protection he drinks and feasts, receiving the greatest of blessings. From Standstill to Enthusiasm, Pi's sealed world explodes into thunder rising from the earth — the arousing joy of Yu. The True Man on the southern mountain suggests a sage-ruler whose cultivation has earned heaven's mandate: his virtue resonates with the legendary emperors. Yu's image is thunder that shakes the earth awake with music and ceremony. The verse moves from stagnation to celebration: the worthy one receives heaven's appointment, and the entire world rejoices in renewed cosmic harmony.
