Yilin Verse
重或射卒,不知所定,質疑蓍龜,孰可避大。
Repeated volleys strike the soldiers; none knows where to find safety. Inquiring of yarrow and tortoise shell; who can avert the great calamity.

Commentary
Thunder above wind, Duration's settled rhythm, meets lake above wind — Great Exceeding's buckling ridgepole. Repeated attacks strike the soldiers, leaving no stable position. Doubts pile up, and one consults the yarrow and tortoise shell, asking which danger can be averted. Duration should provide certainty, yet here the enduring condition is chaos itself — a sustained assault with no fixed front. The desperate appeal to divination underscores the failure of ordinary calculation. From Duration to Great Exceeding, the steady rhythm encounters a load beyond structural capacity. The ridgepole of the situation sags, and no oracle can relieve the excess. When persistence only prolongs an untenable position, even divination cannot point the way out.
