Commentary
Fire within the lake yields to fire beneath the mountain — Grace, the hexagram of cultural adornment. Yet the Earthly Branches hai and wu clash in disastrous error, disrupting inherited enterprises, leaving the people unable to work their fields or tend their crafts. Hai (pig/water) and wu (horse/fire) stand in fundamental opposition: water extinguishes fire, and their collision symbolizes timing gone catastrophically wrong. The elegance that Grace promises is undermined when cosmic rhythms conflict. From Revolution to Grace, the transformation reveals that outward beauty cannot compensate for structural disharmony. When the calendar itself is in error, no amount of ornamentation can restore productive order.
