Commentary
Fire within the lake transforms into the lake rising above heaven — Breakthrough, where accumulated pressure finally crests the dam. The famed steeds Qiji and Lu'er pull the chariot, their glory illuminating Zaofu the charioteer. Boshu offered loyal service, and Xiang continued the legacy, assisting Duke Wen to establish hegemony, becoming Jin's chief minister. Zaofu was the legendary charioteer of King Mu of Zhou, who drove the eight famous horses — including Lu'er ('Green Ear') — a thousand li in a single day. The verse then pivots to Jin's political dynasty. From Revolution to Breakthrough, the transformation shows how exceptional talent, once harnessed, breaks through all barriers — fine horses paired with a master driver create unstoppable momentum.
