Six at the top means: His house is in a state of abundance. He screens off his family. He peers through the gate And no longer perceives anyone. For three years he sees nothing. Misfortune.

Thunder and fire converge in Abundance, and the verse paints pure material prosperity. In a year of plenty, granaries overflow. Rivers and seas teem with fish. Merchants trade skillfully, and the great state grows wealthy. No specific historical allusion appears — this is Abundance's own nature expressed without complication. Every element cooperates: heaven yields grain, waters yield fish, human enterprise yields profit. From Abundance to Work on the Decayed, mountain sits above wind: paradoxically, this idyllic prosperity connects to decay's hexagram because abundance untended becomes corruption. The wind beneath the mountain stirs what has grown stale, reminding that even the richest harvest requires renewal and the clearing away of accumulated waste.
