Yilin Verse

戴堯扶禹,松喬彭祖。西遇王母,道路夷易,無敢難者。

Upholding Yao, supporting Yu; Song Qiao and Peng Zu. Meeting the Queen Mother in the west; the road is smooth and easy, none dare make it difficult.

— Jiao Yanshou, Yilin (Forest of Changes), 1st century BCE

Commentary

Heaven and water oppose, but here the traveler walks under supreme protection. Bearing the legacy of Yao and supporting Yu's work, accompanied by the immortals Chisongzi, Wang Qiao, and Pengzu — paragons of eternal life — one journeys west to meet the Queen Mother of the West. The road is smooth and easy; nothing dares obstruct the way. From Conflict to The Family, wind emerges from fire, warmth radiating outward as household order. The verse gathers every symbol of blessing — sage governance, immortal longevity, divine patronage — and places them within the family's protective circle. When the household embodies virtue at this scale, no external conflict can breach it.
