枯樹無枝，與子分離。飢寒莫養；獨立哀悲。
A withered tree without branches; separated from one's child. Hunger and cold without nurture; standing alone in grieving sorrow.

注释
枯樹無枝，與子分離——枯木光禿，與幼苗斷絕。飢寒莫養，獨立哀悲——無力供養禦寒，孤立悲泣。意象至為慘切：死木不能養苗，竭盡之親不能哺子。從大有至大過（澤滅木），天火化為澤水滅木——棟梁不勝重荷。此變恰合詩意：曾經豐有者如今過載至折。枯樹呼應大過卦自身之「枯楊」意象。過度耗竭了生機，殘存的只是曾經豐茂之骨架。獨立不懼、遁世無悶，大過之訓在枯槁之際仍守其志。
