Plum and apricot bear fruit in winter; the state swarms with thieves and bandits. Turmoil erupts on every side; the king cannot control it.

注释
地中有山，梅李冬實——梅李在冬季結果，悖逆時序。國多賊盜——國中盜賊橫行。擾亂並作——騷亂四起。王不能制——王者無力控制。草木非時而實乃政治混亂之傳統異兆：自然之序被打亂，映射治道之失常。從謙至小過（山上有雷），雷在山上，小鳥飛過而不宜高。小過訓以「行過乎恭，喪過乎哀，用過乎儉」——以過度之謹慎為正。然此詩呈一國連此等微小之矯正亦已失效：王權不足，盜賊越界。時序崩壞時，小過層層疊加終成不可控之亂。
