雷出地奮，然此處之雷為戰鼓。羊驚馬走，上下揮擾——牲畜奔竄，軍陣大亂。鼓音不絕，頃公奔敗。此指前589年鞌之戰：齊頃公侵魯，晉帥郤克率聯軍大敗齊師。戰中頃公與車右逢丑父互換位置以避追捕，晉軍繞華山追逐數匝。從豫至復（雷在地中），一陽復始於純陰之後。頃公慘敗，一切張狂盡失，回到最初之起點——受辱而歸，僅保性命。復之義為剝極而返，正合此敗軍之將重新開始之象。
