水洊至，危險無休。雷行相逐，一波未平一波又起，片刻不得喘息。戰於平陸之上，為夷狄所覆——開闊地形無可遮蔽，敗軍之勢如水傾瀉。原詩急迫緊湊：追逐不已而災禍於曠野中展開。從坎至師（地中有水），水蓄於地下為有節制之力。然此詩示師之失敗：兵力無戰略縱深而徒然追逐，雷動而無章法，終於平地上全軍覆沒。師之道在於容民畜眾、蓄力而發，非盲目衝鋒。
