明兩作離，火入澤中有火之革。言無要約——口說無憑。不成劵契——未立契約。殷叔季姬——殷國之叔與季姬。公孫爭之——公孫氏爭奪。強入委禽——強行納聘送雁（「委禽」為婚聘之禮）。不悅子南——子南不悅。詩寫春秋貴族之婚姻爭端：強行納聘違背當事人意願，釀成世族紛爭。從離至革，澤中有火，治曆明時：革為變革，火在澤中，水火不容則必有一變。約束不立、強行作合，如水火相激，終須革舊立新方能平息。
