The tiger, though fierce and bold, is hard for any physician to cure. The thoroughbred wearies at the salt cart, exhausted by bit and whip.

注释
澤上於天，沉入木上有水之井。虎除善猛，難為功醫——虎雖勇猛，一旦生病則難以醫治。驥疲鹽車，困於銜箠——千里馬疲於拉鹽車，受轡鞭之苦。「驥伏鹽車」出《戰國策》：伯樂見千里馬困於鹽車之下而泣。兩意象並列：至高之力量被環境所辱。從夬至井，決斷之力本應深及養萬民之水。然此詩示資源錯置：虎之勇不可醫其病，馬之速浪費於苦役。井在彼處，最需其水者卻不可及。
