木上有火，鼎之象。螟蟲為賊——螟蛾蟲害如盜賊。害我稼穡——毀我莊稼。盡禾單麥——禾粟盡食，麥穗光禿。利無所得——毫無收獲。此為農家至痛——蟲災吞噬整季辛勞，鼎賴穀以烹，穀盡則鼎空。從鼎至未濟（火在水上），未濟為未成之卦——火與水不能相濟，能量與物質無法結合。鼎有火而無食可烹，田有苗而無力禦蟲。一切功虧一簣，在完成之門檻前被毀——此即未濟之象。
