Nine at the top means: The bird's nest burns up. The wanderer laughs at first, Then must needs lament and weep. Through carelessness he loses his cow. Misfortune.

山上有火，旅人觀天下大勢之匯聚。原詩「延陵適魯，觀樂太史」——吳公子季札（延陵）訪魯觀樂，知各國之盛衰。「車轔白顛」為異象，預示秦之興起，「卒兼其國，一統為主」——終將統一天下。季札以旅人之身洞察列國命運，從音樂中聽出興亡。從旅至泰（天地交），天地交泰，陰陽和合。旅人之觀察化為先知之見：百川歸海，大勢所趨，統一非僅出於征伐，乃順應已然之格局。
