山上有火，雞鳴而無距（雄雞之爪刺），竟與鵲鬥。翅折目盲，為仇所傷——自不量力而取禍。旅人身處異地，不知進退，以己之短攻彼之長。無距之雞猶如無備之人，逞勇鬥狠，終自毀其身。從旅至小畜（風行天上），風之力在於柔和蓄養，非剛猛搏擊。小畜「懿文德」之道，在於知所不足而涵養充實，非以匹夫之勇硬拼。不自量而戰者，所得非蓄積之益，乃自取之傷。
