Digging the ground seeking pearls — the pearls hang in the tree. Felling timber seeking fish — the fish are in the deep. Busy all day, hands empty — the lucky star passes overhead, never noticed.

注释
隨風巽，化為山上有木之漸。原詩云：「戴盆望天，不見星辰；顧小失大，福逃牆外。」戴盆望天——頭頂盆缽仰望蒼穹，星辰自然不見。此為自蔽之經典隱喻：雙手緊抓之物恰恰遮擋了更大的視野。顧小失大——專注蠅頭小利而喪失全局。福逃牆外——福氣翻牆而走，不為所見。從巽至漸（山上有木，君子以居賢德善俗），漸為循序漸進、日積月累之道。然此人目光朝下，無法發展。漸進之功在於望見遠方，非盯著盆底之一隅。
