注释
澤上有水，節以準確度量能力。遠視千里而不見所持——能見千里之遠卻看不見手中之物。離婁之明，無益於耳——離婁目力之銳見載於《孟子》，能察秋毫之末，然再銳之目於聽覺無補。此為能力錯配之諷：以目代耳，以長補短而不可得。從節至小過（山上有雷），錯配加劇。雷在山上——小者過之，飛鳥遺音。小過之道在行過乎恭、用過乎儉，然於常事則過猶不及。離婁之目延伸至其領域之外，正是超越本分之小過——能力逾其界即失其用。
