注释
風行天上，化為雷在天上之大壯。蝗蟲食我稻穀，驅趕不去，密如雲翳；實穗盡無，但見空空藁稈。從小畜至大壯，柔蓄被蠻力所吞噬。大壯之雷在天上，力量巨大而須以禮來節制——君子「非禮弗履」。蝗蟲即無道德約束之力量：無休止地吞噬，抗拒無效，人力不能止。詩警示天下：大力量若只服務於貪慾而不受禮制約束，終將沃野良田化為徒留空殼之荒地。吞噬所應守護者，其強力與天災無異。
