Yilin Verse
天之奧府,眾利所聚;可以饒有,樂我君子。
Heaven's hidden treasury, where manifold profits gather. One may thereby grow rich and full; it delights our noble lord.
— Jiao Yanshou, Yilin (Forest of Changes), 1st century BCE
Commentary
Heaven and earth refuse to mingle, yet within this stagnation lies heaven's secret treasury where all profit gathers. The verse paints an unexpected reversal: amid Standstill's closed gates, abundance waits for the one who can claim it. The gentleman finds wealth and joy precisely where others see only blockage. From Standstill to the Creative, the transformation is total — sealed earth gives way to doubled heaven, pure initiative unleashed. What was hoarded behind the wall of non-communication becomes available through the Creative's self-generating power. The stagnation was never absence of value, only absence of motion; once pure yang reasserts itself, the treasury opens and all its riches flow to the one prepared to act.
