Commentary
Heaven above the mountain withdraws into pure heaven doubled — the Creative's self-generating strength. The verse opens with vulnerability: weak and without support, unable to manage one's own affairs. The mind yearns for the open wilderness beyond, and the heart labors under burdens. Yet the final line pivots: 'Though there is worry, there is no peril.' Retreat's image is strategic withdrawal — the mountain beneath heaven creates distance from petty entanglements. When this transforms into the Creative, withdrawal becomes self-reliance. The one who retreats is not fleeing but gathering strength. From Retreat to the Creative, the pattern resonates with every exile who traded comfort for autonomy: anxiety persists, but catastrophe is averted because the retreating figure discovers an inner sovereignty no external circumstance can undermine.
