Commentary

Wind and thunder bestow increase, but the transformation leads to the lake rising above heaven — the decisive breakthrough of Breakthrough. Rabbits nurse their young indoors, but when they venture out, sparrows devour them. A tiger menaces the speaker's children, and long wailing fills the air. The domestic scene of nursing rabbits gives way to predation and terror: the small and vulnerable, once they leave the safety of the burrow, face threats from both sky and ground. The tiger's presence escalates the danger to existential levels. From Increase to Breakthrough, the verse reveals the cost of decisive action. When the lake surges above heaven, what was contained breaks free — but not all breakthroughs are liberating. Here, the breach in domestic security exposes the young to every predator that the walls once held at bay.
