Nine in the fifth place means: If in gathering together one has position, This brings no blame. If there are some who are not yet sincerely in the work, Sublime and enduring perseverance is needed. Then remorse disappears.

Commentary
Lake upon earth gives way to thunder above water, the liberating release of Deliverance. Boyi and Shuqi, paragons of integrity and purity, serve as moral teachers for all. Through virtue they guarded against calamity, and worry and misfortune ceased to exist; their fragrant reputation endures for ages to come. The two brothers of Guzhu refused to eat the grain of Zhou, choosing death on Mount Shouyang over compromise. Their famine was voluntary, their principle absolute. From Gathering to Deliverance, the transformation reveals an unexpected liberation: by refusing to gather with the new regime, Boyi and Shuqi freed themselves from moral contamination. Thunder and rain clear the air, and what remains after the storm is not wealth or power but an untarnishable name.
