初九 需于郊。利用恆。无咎。
Nine at the beginning means: Waiting in the meadow. It furthers one to abide in what endures. No blame.
Line 2
九二 需于沙。小有言。終吉。
Nine in the second place means: Waiting on the sand. There is some gossip. The end brings good fortune.
Line 3
九三 需于泥。致寇至。
Nine in the third place means: Waiting in the mud Brings about the arrival of the enemy.
Line 6
上六 入于穴。有不速之客三人來。敬之終吉。
Six at the top means: One falls into the pit. Three uninvited guests arrive. Honor them, and in the end there will be good fortune.

Yilin Verse
河水孔穴,壞敗我室。水深無岸,魚鱉傾側。
River water breaches the hole, wrecking and ruining my house. The water is deep, with no shore; fish and turtles are tossed about.

Commentary
Clouds above heaven become wind sweeping over the earth in Contemplation — but what is observed here is devastation. River water bursts through openings and breaches, destroying our dwellings. The water deepens until no bank remains; fish and turtles tumble sideways in the torrent. The verse depicts a flood beyond containment: not the nourishing rain promised by Waiting's clouds, but a catastrophic overflow that obliterates the boundary between river and land. From Waiting to Contemplation, the transformation asks: what do you see when you truly look? Wind over earth surveys all without obstruction — and what it surveys here is ruin. Contemplation without the power to act becomes helpless witness to destruction.
