Commentary
Clouds above heaven meet the lake with fire within it — Revolution's transformative upheaval. Setting out before dawn by carriage, one stumbles into danger and falls into a ditch. Skirts and jackets are lost; both axles snap. Everything about this journey goes wrong: the timing (predawn darkness), the terrain (rutted and treacherous), the vehicle (broken beyond repair). Haste before the proper hour produces not transformation but wreckage. From Waiting to Revolution, the patient clouds give way to the fire-in-the-lake that demands radical change — but revolution attempted without preparation destroys the vehicle of change itself. The broken axles cannot carry one forward; the lost garments signal the stripping away of all dignity.
