Commentary

Wind upon wind transforms into heaven over thunder: the Gentle becomes Innocence. Wishing to visit the Zi Che family, one is deceived by a seemingly kind host. Lord Huan welcomes you warmly, but the person you sought is nowhere to be found. The verse describes a journey undertaken in good faith that ends in disappointment and possible treachery — the guide misleads, the destination proves empty. From The Gentle to Innocence, heaven above thunder means acting without ulterior motive, moving as nature moves. Yet here, innocence is exploited. The honest traveler walks into a trap precisely because he expects no deception. Innocence without vigilance becomes naivete, and the one who trusts without discernment finds himself manipulated.
