Commentary
Wind upon wind transforms into lake over wind: the Gentle becomes Great Exceeding. The morning wind hawk with patterned wings rises grandly and flies toward warmth. It passes over my settled town — and even Archer Yi obtains nothing. The hawk's magnificent departure is unstoppable: feathered in beauty, soaring southward to escape the cold, it crosses overhead while the legendary archer stands helpless below. Yi, who shot down nine suns, cannot touch this bird. From The Gentle to Great Exceeding, the lake submerges the trees — extraordinary times call for extraordinary independence. The hawk embodies that independence: departing alone, rising beyond all pursuit, it exceeds every constraint that would hold it back.
