The badger receives an unearned meal, dwelling in a place that is not safe. Losing the carriage, the hut stripped bare; sitting idle, dwelling without purpose.

注释
懸貆素餐，居非其安。失輿剝廬，休坐徒居。貆者閒居食祿而不事，坐享其成而處非所當。乾至震，洊雷，震之象也。君子以恐懼修省。此詩寫雷擊之前的安逸：不當其位者素餐度日，虛佔居所。震之雷為猛然之覺醒，剝去虛假之安穩。失車毀屋非偶然之災，乃天道之糾正——將錯置之物歸還原位。震來虩虩，笑言啞啞——素餐者突然發現其棲身之所已被雷聲震碎，此即恐懼修省之契機。
