上天下澤，桑之將落。殞其黃葉，失勢傾側而無所立。桑樹落葉之象呼應《詩經》桑意象之豐饒與無常。此處桑樹喻地位或權勢：葉盡則幹裸傾危，不能自持。從履至噬嗑，電雷並至：地位崩塌之後非緩緩衰微，而是嚴厲之裁決。失勢之時，噬嗑之齒咬破虛飾，明罰敕法，不容偽裝。行止失據，則刑罰隨之。
