A long-tailed serpent draws a line in the earth for a river; too deep to wade, it blocks the way to nothing. Brooding and sighing in frustration.

注释
電雷噬嗑，去障之卦。長尾蜲蛇畫地為河——蛇以尾劃地而稱之為河，深不可涉，阻絕以無。惆然憤息。此為虛假障礙之象：蛇之一劃非真河，卻令人望而生畏，止步不前。所憤者乃被幻象所阻。從噬嗑至復（雷在地中），冬至一陽來復。陽氣回升將揭穿虛河之偽——畫地為河者終不能阻真正之復歸。復卦之義正在此：剝極而復，假象終散。
