山附於地為剝，明出地上為晉。鳧舞鼓翼——野鴨起舞振翅。嘉樂堯德——讚頌堯帝之德。虞夏美功——虞舜、夏禹之盛德美業。要荒賓服——最遠之蠻荒之地亦歸順臣服。鳥獸舞蹈乃古人描述聖王德音之效：德政所至，自然應和。堯之仁、禹之功代表文明之黃金時代，德化遠播至天涯。從剝至晉，山之剝落清除了遮蔽，日得以自地面升起而照耀四方。「自昭明德」——剝盡障礙後，光明不受阻擋，其暖及於最遙遠之邦域。
