注释
雷在地中，長子入獄——家中長子身陷牢獄。婦饋母哭——妻子送飯，母親痛哭。霜降愈甚——霜降之後寒意益深。鄉晦伏法——黃昏之際伏法處刑。古制秋冬行刑，取天地肅殺之氣應刑殺，霜降尤為行刑之期。長子為一家棟梁，恰在天道許殺之時被判死刑。從復至升，地中生木，積小以高大。此變遭苦澀之倒置：本應穩步上升者，反被法令與時令之重壓入地下。升之木未能破土，反被霜降之刃截斷。
