The great tree’s offspring; a hundred boughs share one mother. In midsummer’s sixth month; branches and leaves flourish thick. The luan bird shelters beneath; Lord Shao escapes the heat.

注释
澤滅木，大過之象。大樹之子，百條共母——參天大樹，百枝同根。當夏六月，枝葉盛茂——盛夏之際，枝繁葉茂。鸞鳥以庇，召伯避暑——鸞鳥棲息其蔭，召伯於樹下乘涼。此典出《詩經·召南·甘棠》：召公奭於甘棠樹下聽訟行政，民愛其德，不忍伐其樹。樹既為實際之蔭庇，亦為仁政之隱喻。從大過至需（雲上於天），過載之棟化為活木之蔭：非僵硬之架構而是有機之生長，以從容等待之姿態滋養萬物，度過最漫長之炎夏。
