明入地中，雷在天上，大壯之象：力量須以禮節制。「驕胡犬形，造惡作凶」——驕橫蠻夷如犬之形，製造罪惡與暴行。「無所能成，還自滅身」——一事無成，反而自取滅亡。大壯之雷在天上，力量如雷霆萬鈞，然「非禮弗履」——無禮之力如公羊觸藩，進退不得。從明夷至大壯，壓抑之能量若無道德引導而爆發，則成純粹之破壞。不能成事者必自毀，驕而無道之力終歸於無。
