山下有澤，損之象。海為水宗——海為百水之祖。「聰明且聖」——深廣而通達。百流歸德，無有叛逆——眾水朝宗，無一逆流。「常饒優足」——海之豐盈取之不竭。從損至履（上天下澤），山澤之損化為天澤之履。履者，禮也，辨上下定民志。海處最下而為百川之宗，恰合損下益上之理。損己以容人，卑下以成其大，此海之智慧，亦損卦之真義。至履則成為自然之秩序，上下各安其位。
