陰淫寒疾，水離其室。舟楫大作，傷害黍稷。民飢於食，不无病厄。
Yin excess brings cold and plague; the waters leave their course. Boats and rafts are hastily built, yet the crops are ruined. The people starve for food; sickness and hardship are inescapable.

注释
澤無水，困之象也。陰淫寒疾——陰氣過盛致寒病流行；水離其室——水漫出河道。舟楫大作——洪水泛濫，舟船遍行；傷害黍稷——禾稼盡毀。民飢於食，不無病厄——百姓斷糧，疫病交加。全詩為洪災之紀實：陰陽失調引發天災，繼而饑饉、繼而瘟疫，層層疊加。舟楫大作為慘烈之反諷：水本當滋養田禾，今卻需造船避禍。從困至解（雷雨作），君子以赦過宥罪。解為釋放，然無序之釋放——水離其室——非解救而是毀滅。
