注释
木上有火，鼎之象。褒寵洒尤——「褒」指褒姒，因寵愛而恣意驕縱。敗政傾家——政事敗壞，宗族傾覆。覆我宗國——顛覆祖宗之國。秦滅周室——秦於前256年滅東周。褒姒之寵致烽火戲諸侯，西周覆亡；數百年後秦終滅周。兩次毀滅首尾相應，勾勒一個王朝從裂痕到終結之全程。從鼎至咸（山上有澤），咸為感應之卦，澤在山上，有感皆受——然不辨善惡之感應即為禍端。鼎火所養者因無節之寵而化為灰燼。
