兼山為艮，銜命辱使——受命出使而遭侮辱，力不堪任。中途墜落，更被強加負載。此為外交之恥：使者以屈辱之條件出行，不堪重壓而倒，猶被加重。從艮至觀（風行地上），雙山化為風行大地之象，先王省方觀民設教。然詩反其意：非從容觀察之高，乃從下被壓垮之低。山之高本應予遠見，此處只量出跌落之深。
