麗澤兌，歡悅之象。南循汝水，茂樹斬枝。過時不遇，惄如周飢。沿汝水南行，見茂林被斫，約定之期已過而不得相遇，飢渴如周代之荒。從兌至噬嗑（電雷），歡悅被截斷。噬嗑以明罰勅法為功，然此處之障礙乃時間——時機已逝，雷電之威亦無法追回。斬枝之樹喻法度之嚴，然嚴而不及時，終成空勞。
