What is hoped for lies beyond; the bronze tripod and gold are coming. Wiping the cups, cleansing the vessels; cooking food to await them. No cause to fret over trifles.

注释
火在水上，未濟之待。所望在外——期盼之物尚在遠方。鼎金方來——珍貴之禮器正在途中。拭爵滌罍——擦拭酒器，清洗祭器。炊食待之——備膳以候。不為季憂——不因時令遲延而擔心。全詩洋溢著篤定之期待：客未至而家已備，結果尚未成而信心已定。從未濟至臨（澤上有地），火水之未定化為地臨澤上之親近。臨為冬至之象，陽氣初升，大者將至。器皿已潔，因主人深知所期者必來。未濟之不安以絕對之信任而消解。
