霜降閉戶，蟄虫隱處。不見日月，與死為伍。

注释
地勢坤，厚德載物。霜降閉戶，蟄蟲隱處——霜降之際，門戶緊閉，蟲蟄伏不出。不見日月，與死為伍——天地晦暗，如與死亡同居。霜降行刑，秋冬肅殺之氣主刑罰。坤之大地本為生養之所，至此化為封凍之墓。然從坤至需（雲上於天），需者，等待也。君子以飲食宴樂，從容待時。此詩寫蟄伏之苦：萬物藏於地下，不見天日，幾與死無異。然蟄伏非終結，乃漫長等待之開端，待春回大地則破土而出。
