電雷噬嗑，明罰之卦。此詩卻以柔克剛：內執柔德，止訟以默。宗邑賴德，禍災不作。「止訟以默」與噬嗑之咬斷成鮮明對比——靜默所達者，牙齒所不能。從噬嗑至遯（天下有山），君子遠小人。此為變化之教：最有效之法度有時是不爭。以默養德，消弭紛爭之根源，使禍亂無從而生。遯之遠離即噬嗑之另一面：不咬斷，而退避。
