大斧破木，讒人敗國。東關二五，禍及三子。晉人亂危，懷公出走。
A great axe splits the timber; slanderers destroy the state. The two-five of the Eastern Pass bring calamity upon three princes. The state of Jin falls to chaos; Duke Huai flees in exile.

注释
山下有雷化為澤上有地，頤養之道遇臨之權勢迫近。大斧破木，讒人敗國——斧喻讒言之銳利。「東關二五」即驪姬之黨羽梁五與東關嬖五，據《左傳》載，驪姬賄二五讒害太子申生及公子重耳、夷吾。申生被誣以毒祭肉，自縊於曲沃，三子皆遭禍。晉人因此大亂，懷公失國出走。從頤至臨，權勢逼近可養亦可毀：讒言入於君耳如毒入於食，太子之養反成太子之殺。臨之「教思無窮」本為善意，然此詩示權力迫近時讒言之可怖。
