焦氏易林
方圓不同，剛柔異鄉。掘井得石，勞而无功。
Square and round do not match; hard and soft belong to different realms. Digging a well, one strikes stone; labor without success.

注释
明入地中，澤中有火，革之象：根本變革需條件配合。「方圓不同」——方與圓不相容。「剛柔異鄉」——剛與柔各處一方。「掘井得石，勞而無功」——挖井遇石，徒勞無功。詩列舉種種不相容之組合：幾何之不合、材質之不配、元素之相剋。於無水之處挖井，終究枉費。革卦要求火與水交互產生創造性之作用，然此處一切皆不對位。從明夷至革，變化之啟示：非所有黑暗皆可被革新，基本要素若根本不匹配，強行變革只是空耗氣力。
